Principal's Message
Welcome to the Our Lady of the Southern Cross College website. For current families and visitors alike this site provides up-to-date information and an insight into the various facets of the dynamic life of our College.
Our Lady of the Southern Cross College is a Prep to Year 12 coeducational Catholic school that unashamedly nurtures its students in Christian beliefs and values. As a College community we strive to integrate faith in Christ with everyday life and model Christ values, such as respect, care, justice and forgiveness in all our interactions.
Within the Our Lady of the Southern Cross College learning community, each student is valued and encouraged to pursue personal excellence in all aspects of his or her development: spiritual, academic, social, cultural and physical. The College provides a strong caring environment through formal Pastoral Care programmes and most importantly through the caring, positive interactions between each student and their class teacher. This is the context in which quality teaching and learning can occur.
The College offers students a comprehensive curriculum which caters for the diverse interests, needs and abilities of our students. Academic Excellence and Diligence awards acknowledge and encourage students who strive for their personal best. An extensive co-curricular program is also available to students.
The College promotes the development of self-discipline based on the Christ values. Discipline is reinforced by strong and consistently maintained rules, standards and expectations. Students are encouraged to demonstrate appropriate personal pride by the manner in which they conduct and present themselves both at school and in the wider community.
At Our Lady of the Southern Cross College we acknowledge that parents are the first educators of their children and therefore, we appreciate the trust and confidence of parents who request that we partner them in this sacred task. This partnership is dynamic and evolving as we work together with each student to enable them to grow in wisdom and maturity as they progress across the 13 years of education at the College in preparation for their entry into adult life.
