Primary Touch Football

The QLD Primary All Schools Touch Football Carnival scheduled for Cleveland in November has been cancelled for 2020.

QLD Touch Football Q Performance Academy

The College has begun the Q Academy to be held on Monday afternoons for six 6 weeks starting on 3 August. This program is run by QLD Touch and is a great opportunity to learn and refine some of the higher level of skills in Touch Football. The program will be for 12 -16-year-old students with the cost being $100 for the six sessions. Any students interested in being part of the program need to see Mr Lincoln.  There are still 4 sessions left and it is not too late to join.

Secondary Touch Football

The QLD All Schools Carnival held at Whites Hill in Brisbane is going ahead as planned. Numbers are still short in the Under 15 Boys team. Any boys interested in playing please see Mr Gillespie or Mr Lincoln ASAP. No spectators will be permitted at the fields due to Covid restrictions. Version 1 of the Draw has been released and passed onto students.

Tennis

Congratulations to the Open Boys Tennis Team of Ben Forbes, Pat Kelly, Hayden Taylor and Harry Coman who competed at the Darling Downs Schools Cup in Toowoomba last Friday. Game results are listed below:

Round 1

OLSCC defeated Highlands Christian College 6 sets to 0 (24 Games to 0)

Round 2

OLSCC defeated Toowoomba Grammar School B 6 sets to 0 (24 Games to 7)

Round 3

OLSCC defeated Toowoomba Anglican School 5 sets to 1 (23 Games to 9)

The Boys finished top of Pool A and will play in the Final against Toowoomba Grammar School this week.

Senior Netball

The Open Girls Netball team will next weekend attend an invitational carnival in Roma. Thanks to Miss Belonogoff for giving this opportunity to our girls. The team play games against St John’s Roma, Roma State College, Assumption College Warwick, St Joseph’s College Toowoomba, Marist College Emerald and St Augustine’s College Brisbane. Results will be in the next edition of the newsletter.

Darling Downs Netball

Four girls from Year 6 and 7 joined with the Bunya team to play at Highfields recently. They were Leila Boland, Monique Smith, Carla Nobbs and Heidi Reed. The team played well and our girls were competitive in tough competition. Congratulations to Carla Nobbs who was named as a shadow player for the Darling Downs Under 12 Girls Netball Team.

Primary Schools Cup Netball

No further updates have been made available about the QLD Primary Schools Cup Netball Carnival at Ipswich on September 12-13. A decision will be made on the College participation at this carnival due to Covid 19 restrictions will be made next week.
