Instrumental Music is Back!
My name is Caine Wager and I am very pleased to be able to advise the Our Lady of the Southern Cross community about a new opportunity for students to excel through instrumental music in the College’s new instrumental music program. This exciting opportunity is available to all students in Years 4 & 5 at the College. Students accessing the program will select from one of the below instruments:
- Flute
- Clarinet
- Alto Saxophone
- Trumpet
- Trombone
- Percussion
Parents and students will be able to collect an Expression of Interest form from tomorrow, 10 May 2019 from the College Office.
The aim of this program is to develop a College Junior Concert band, committed to giving all students the ability to develop performance skills and provide an outlet for Arts excellence. It is expected that students who participate in the program will become a part of the College ensemble and go on to represent the College with pride at competitions, festivals and community events.
Weekly lessons will be offered at a cost of $15.00 per lesson. Students will learn in small groups of 4 and 8 to facilitate a personalised touch while still maintaining the overall goal of establishing a band. These lessons will be on a rotating roster each Monday.
Students who already have an instrument or have been undertaking instrumental lessons in the past and wish to continue are also welcome. These students will also need to complete a new Expression of Interest form and join the program. Students will be placed into groups and lessons will be on Tuesday mornings for these continuing students.
I personally cannot wait to meet our budding musicians and their families as we commence our journey to creating an outstanding Concert Band and Instrumental program at Our Lady of the Southern Cross College.
If you have any further questions about the commencement of Instrumental lesson feel to ring the College or email me: caine.wager@twb.catholic.edu.au
