In week 1 of Term 2, Our Lady of the Southern Cross College had the privilege of hosting Tierney Kennedy at our school. Tierney is an expert maths teacher who has taught over 37,000 students! 

It was a real treat to get to welcome Tierney into our classroom and observe her in action demonstrating hands on maths lessons where students experimented with challenging problems to solve. It was exciting to see every class involved and engrossed in the learning, embracing the challenge. They certainly enjoyed diving into the Learning Pit with Tierney. 

Every Maths teacher had the opportunity to observe these lessons and participate in a debrief session after the lesson asking questions and gaining insightful tips on how to improve student learning outcomes and their teaching. They have taken away some very valuable teaching strategies and techniques to use in their classrooms to improve the teaching and learning of Mathematics at OLSCC. 

We thank the staff and students for embracing Tierney. We are excited to put some of these tips and strategies into action in our classrooms.
