Year 2 HASS
Year 2 was fortunate to have Ziggy and Ace visit this week to share their culture with us. We learnt the meaning behind many of the parts of a traditional aboriginal welcome dance, the different roles people have in making the music and the actions they perform. Lots of fun was had trying to learn the dance. Mr Anderton even joined in with us! The boys answered lots of questions about the symbols they paint on their bodies for the dance when they perform at our College events too. Ziggy and Ace shared their family story and adventures they’ve had reconnecting with their land. We then spent time learning about didgeridoos and clap sticks, how they are made, the traditions about who plays them, when and even how! Lots of excitement followed when we were able to paint our own digeridoos and clap sticks using symbols to tell a story. Thankyou Ziggy and Ace for a wonderful afternoon of learning!
