Reflection
Last Wednesday we celebrated School Officers and Volunteers.
Undoubtedly, no large organisation can function without a support team, and schools certainly need so many valuable staff. These include not only our wonderful School Officers in the classroom but also our administration team, tuckshop staff, groundsman, library team, science lab staff, bus drivers, our IT wizards and last but definitely not least, our parent volunteers.
Our School Officers work to ensure that the business of educating our students runs smoothly and are also the same ones who intervene with a student in a variety of ways. These individuals are called to serve in very close relationships with students, often with severe learning issues.
Time and again, these gifted staff members are key to a student’s sense of self-worth. They, just like the teachers, become emotionally involved with the students and tire from the physical and mental demands of the job.
We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully. Romans 12: 6-8
Dear wise and loving Father,
Thank you for the many you call to serve in positions often ignored.
Thank you for the patience, the discipline, and the loyalty of our School Officers.
May they work with confidence that they do make a difference, not only for the students but the people around them.
Hear their prayers for the students in their care.
Hear their prayers for the teachers that they work alongside.
Guide each of us to serve them, to lighten their load, and to thank them for their work.
We entrust them to you for their welfare.
Amen
