Our Lady of the Southern Cross Dalby and our efforts to help those less fortunate than ourselves links well with YES Arusha. We strive for the ongoing development of the students understanding of the living goodness of Christ’s values.

Teaching and Learning in Year 8 English and Religious Education has focussed on the global blight which is Poverty. This Term 4 unit has introduced students to the extent of suffering in our world and the ongoing fight for the development of human dignity for all on earth.

Through education, enable a life of choice, opportunity and dignity rather than one dictated by the constraints of poverty.”

What have we achieved?

12 Years ago, a cohort of Year 8 students undertook to provide education for two brothers Kelvin and Baraka. This journey has seen the boys become men and are beginning their university education in the new year. 

Where to next?

Our current Year 8 class has undertaken to raise the money to provide a YES Arusha Scholarship which will see a child be educated through their secondary schooling. Please access the website to find out about this programme - Home | Yes Arusha

Unfortunately, one of major fundraising activities, the Carols evening was cancelled. We are currently working on alternative ways of reaching our goal. Keep an eye on the newsletter in 2024.
