University of Southern Queensland Experience Days
The University of Southern Queensland held experience days for Year 11 and 12 students on the 6th of July. Two Year 11 students, Shannon Larsen and Nadine Garside attended the experience day and enjoyed the attending university classes with lecturers and tutors. Shannon attended class involving psychology and criminology and Nadine attended classes involving the performing arts, theatre and visual arts. Both students found the day insightful and a worthwhile experience.
Middle School Career Days
During week 1 of term 3, year 6, 7 and 8 students attended career intensive days held at the College. These students experienced activities that are designed to give them an insight into the world of careers and employment post high school education. The middle school students were also given first hand experiences by year 10, 11 and 12 students who have already started their career journeys by attending School Based Apprenticeships or Traineeships. Guest speakers form the community including past students Ryan Troe (BMO) and Joshua Halling (Nutrient) spoke to the students about their career journeys and Gavin Bradford (Diesel Care) gave his insights about his career journey and expectations of young people in the workplace. As parents, it is important to start to discuss a career with you child and encourage the natural curiosity of young people and the world of employment and work.
