Early Years
How fantastic to have all our students back for another term! Learning was in full swing from the minute the bell rang on Monday. One of the areas we will be focusing on across the College this term is the Learning Dispositions that we believe quality learners at OLSCC exhibit. Our goal is to foster lifelong learners by having students who are creative, curious, independent, motivated, optimistic, persistent and resilient. Each of these dispositions are “unpacked” further in classrooms and should provide fodder for interesting discussion around the family dinner table – be sure to ask your child about them!
Over the next week, several important communications will come home via hard copy to parents. Please keep your eyes out for these, including:
- Course overviews for your child’s class – what will they be learning this term? These are now being sent home at the BEGINNING of each term so that you can support your child by referring back to these to discuss the learning that is happening. It is particularly helpful to phrase these discussions using three of the questions that we use at the College as part of our Visible Learning journey –
- What are you learning? (students refer to the Learning Intention in class)
- How are you doing? (students check the Success Criteria to respond to this)
- Where to next?
- Individual Student Report Cards – Semester 1
- Information regarding the Daniel Morcombe Child Safety Curriculum and Sexual Health Education
