Year 10 Science students had a sweet start to Term 3 with a practical experiment using marshmallows. The unit for Year 10 Science centres around genetics. Using counters, the students flipped to determine the genetic characteristics or alelles of their sweet marshmallow monster. There were six characteristics of the creature and each alelle decided whether it had a straight or curly tail, two or four eyes, one hump or two and so on. This unit is important  for Year 10 students particularly as it leads further into genetics in Biology in Year 12.
