Middle Years Matters
Mini-Olympics
Inspired by the Pairs Olympics, in House Connect this week we held a mini event of our own. While there were no gold medals, podiums, drug tests, or world records, it was great to see the students interacting with their peers, laughing, challenging each other and just having heaps of fun. It was a bit different from the modern pentathlon or even the decathlon, here our events involved;
- Nerf gun target shooting.
- Creepy Crawly wall race sprints.
- Rubber band flinging.
- Tossing cards into buckets.
- Stacking mini chairs into the highest stack
- Mini Basketball shooting.
Everyone had a win through the session and we look forward to more events next week.
Investigating Mixtures – Science
This week our Year 7 students were investigating random mixtures. Beginning with an unknown object in a bag, they needed to use their science brains to infer what could be inside using only their senses. Once it was revealed, they then went about making observations so they could describe the mixture in great detail. Finally, they needed to determine the best way to separate the mixture. It was great to see students working together to complete the task. Well done students.
Summative Review - Thank you
I would like to say a very sincere and heart-felt thank you to all students, parents, community members, and staff who were involved in my review process this past week. Your feedback and perspective are integral parts of the process. I appreciate your affirmations and suggestions on how I can continue to serve the College, the Middle Years, and our wonderful community.
