The Arts

Speech and Drama Eisteddfod

Congratulations to all of our amazing students that entered into the Speech and Drama Eisteddfod! We had about 130 entries between Year 2 and Year 12 from the Performing Arts programme. Every student took charge of their fear, stood up on stage and delivered their message clearly and professionally. The adjudicator awarded places, though she commented that all of the entries were of such a high standard that it was difficult to choose!

Collage Art Show

The College Art Show is coming up in Term 4 and we want everyone to join in, including our Early Years students. This year, we’re thinking about big ideas with our theme: “Think Big, Act Boldly and Serve Others”. This can be interpreted in lots of different ways so here are some ideas of what this might mean to our youngest artists:

  • What they dream of becoming when they grow up
  • A collage of their favourite things
  • A painting/drawing of their local church
  • Something they wish the world had more of, like smiles, balloons, or puppies.
  • A cool new invention, like a gadget that makes the perfect roasted marshmallows.
  • The biggest artwork they can imagine, like a huge painting or a tall stack of boxes.
  • A collage of ways people can help each other
  • A painting/drawing of someone they really admire.
  • A bold word or statement that they think is really important
  • Their interpretation of Jesus, God or Mary

They can make their art in any way they like, with paint, crayons, or even clay and boxes for something you can touch and feel.

To help give students an opportunity to create something for the art show we will open Blue 5, every Tuesday lunchtime for three weeks, starting 20th August. The last day to come and create will be 3rd September.

If your child wants to make their art at home, that’s wonderful! You can bring their finished piece, with their name and the artwork’s name on it, to the office by Friday 13th September.

We can’t wait to see all the amazing art they’ll make!
